Newsletter

Dear Readers,

Our mission is to make people, who are interested in poetry, more aware of those poetry communities and events which are available. We pride ourselves on providing current, relevant, and tasteful information to poets and readers alike who are interested in participating in some of the programs and events. We realize that poetry tends to be inaccessible to those who are not going to school for it, so we strive to provide good information about educational programs, workshops, readings, and publications in which students and the general public can get more involved in.

There are many things, besides the name, that make The BPP a very unique poetry newsletter. The biggest difference is that every month, The BPP features a cover page editorial, parody, or essay by a published writer or a distinguished member of the poetry scene. It enables readers to get a better understanding of the poetry world from the perspective of someone who is either published or currently working in academia. Poets like Beckian Goldberg, Sean Nevin, and Cynthia Hogue have dived into several issues being faced by writers within the poetry scene; such as graphic imagery, spoken word, and poetry on film.

The BPP contains quality written stories by people who are deeply involved in poetry, non-fiction, music, and art. We are passionate about providing this service and reaching out to the community, as well as keeping ourselves involved in what we like doing best! Poetry, parody, prose, and song lyric submissions are accepted every month and the winners are featured in that month's issues. Writers like Alice Shapiro and John-Michael Bloomquist have provided us with submissions in the past and we hope to gain more amazing submissions like them. The BPP also has a mailing list, where anyone can receive a free copy or copies for themselves, or for display at their establishment or organization. We also offer "paperless" copies sent by email as a .pdf file for those who are concerned about keeping it green.

Happy Reading!
